Thank you Jesus for trees! I think they are just wonderful. A childhood consisting of Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree and countless viewings of Swiss Family Robinson aided in this love. Climbing, sitting, hammocking, building, resting, dreaming, eating yummy fruits, hanging twinkly lights, swinging, breathing and plenty more are possible because of these beautiful and mighty creations. Our dear Savior even paid our ransom upon a tree. Here are some of my most favorite trees from all over my little part of the world:
Cherry Blossom Trees in Conyers, GA
Athens, GA
Palm Trees in Orlando, FL
Grandfather Tree on Jekyll Island, GA
Tomorrowland Tree in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World
Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, GA
Atlantic Station Christmas Tree in Atlanta, GA
Baldwin, GA
Harris Neck Pine Tree in MacIntosh County, GA
Maple Tree outside my former college apartment window in Athens, GA
Advice from a Tree
By Ilan Shamir
Dear Friend,
Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures
Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
